She was born in Australia
in 1888. She was a self-taught
illustrator, her first published illustrations appeared in the 'New
Idea' magazine when she was only 15 and the following year saw
her first illustrated book, written by her sister. She illustrated 4
more books in 1906, two in 1907 and one in 1911.
She married a barrister, who wrote stories for her to illustrate
and handled her business affairs. They spent a year in paris and
london where she had successful exhibitions, the London one
being attended by Queen Mary, who bought some of her
paintings for her own collection. She also sold her next four
books to an English publisher. In 1926 she reverted to Australian
publication for Fairyland, another limited edition book. From
1933 to 1939 she contributed a regular comic strip to the
Melbourne Weekly Times.
They lived in South Yarra and had 4 children. She died in
Melbourne in 1960, aged 72.
